Tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in Neuroscience 

Position Description:

The University of Illinois Urbana Champaign invites applications for a tenure-track neuroscience position (full time, 9 months) at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in the Department of Comparative Biosciences. Outstanding scientists who conduct research in all disciplines of neuroscience at the molecular, cellular and/or circuit levels are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in investigators who apply in vivo electrophysiology and/or other methods analyzing neuronal activity in rodents (e.g., two-photon imaging) to study cognition and/or emotions. The successful applicant will have access to significant research resources at the department, college and university levels.

The vibrant neuroscience community in the university includes the interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program (PhD training, https://neuroscience.illinois.edu/), the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (https://www.igb.illinois.edu/) and the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute (http://healthinstitute.illinois.edu/). The Beckman Institute is an interdisciplinary research institute including neuroscientists, psychologists, engineers and computer scientists, and home to the Imaging Technology Group (https://itg.beckman.illinois.edu/microscopy_suite). A 9.4T magnetic resonance imaging instrument will also become available.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., DVM, or an equivalent doctoral degree and postdoctoral experience. Candidates who would like to be considered at the rank of Associate Professor must have an outstanding track record of publications and funding. Candidates should have a cutting-edge research program, a strong publication record and evidence of their potential to compete successfully for extramural funds. Applicants with a cross-disciplinary research portfolio are also encouraged to apply. Candidates are expected to contribute to teaching in the graduate and professional (DVM) curricula. The intended start date is August 16, 2020. Salary is commensurate with experience and skills.
