Associate/Full Professor, Climate Adaptation and Coastal Resilience
This position represents a research- and outreach-intensive role that is part of The Water School at FGCU. The candidate will be expected to develop a successful research and outreach program that disseminates research findings to the region and the academic community, as appropriate, and to acquire external support for its efforts. The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing or develop new courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. As a senior member of the faculty, the successful candidate will be expected to serve as a mentor to more junior faculty and to participate on College and University committees.
As an Associate/Full Professor in the Department of Marine & Earth Sciences in The Water School, you will teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as applicable; be involved in course and/or curriculum development; have an active program in research/scholarship; and participate on College and University committees and/or initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. in coastal management, marine science, marine/environmental policy, natural resource management, geology, or relevant field from a regionally accredited institution.
Experience teaching graduate and undergraduate courses.
Evidence of strong research experience related to coastal adaptation and resilience commensurate with the rank of associate or full professor.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with coastal communities, scientists, and practitioners to develop strategies that address climate adaptation and coastal resilience. Demonstrated high quality scholarship/ outreach related to climate resilience and coastal adaptation, including nationally recognized peer-reviewed contributions.
Demonstrated ability to consistently acquire extramural funding, especially from federal and state agencies, in support of communicating needs, planning for responses, and implementing action related to climate adaptation and coastal resilience.
Essential Job Duties
Develops a strong research/outreach program with a focus on climate adaptation and coastal resilience that is directed toward regional needs.
Develops/contributes courses for undergraduate (BS Marine Science, BA Environmental Studies) and graduate (MS Environmental Science, MA Environmental Studies) degree programs as appropriate.
Engages in teaching, research and service activities commensurate with expectations for senior faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences.
