Responsibilities
Mercer University School of Medicine seeks creative and interactive scientists for a full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor with expertise in the areas of microbial diseases, microbe-host cell interactions, and/or microbial pathogenesis. Rank will depend on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The candidate is expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program and to interact collaboratively with basic scientists and clinical faculty located on the Macon, Savannah, Columbus, and Atlanta campuses as well as training initiatives involving undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. The Department currently offers a Masters of Biomedical Sciences degree and is positioned to launch a PhD program in the fall of 2020. Successful applicants will also participate in MUSM's interdisciplinary patient-based learning curriculum for medical students. Applications for consideration at the Associate Professor level must have a demonstrated track record of scholarly research including extramural, peer-reviewed funding and excellence in teaching.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD., MD, or equivalent) from an accredited University/College and have at least three years of post-doctoral experience with a record of scholarly activity as demonstrated by original peer reviewed publications and grant-writing experience.
