Director of the Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research

The Ohio State University College of Medicine seeks an accomplished and innovative scientist to serve as its inaugural Director of the Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research. This is an exceptional opportunity for a collaborative leader to build the research portfolio and promote clinical translation in neurodegenerative diseases at one of the nation's premier academic institutions. The Center Director will establish partnerships across the institution and develop basic science and translational research projects, as well as investigator initiated clinical trials with dedicated academic physicians and scientists.

OSU currently has Alzheimer's Disease expertise across basic science, translational research and clinical care. The establishment of the Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research will leverage existing strengths with the goal to integrate and expand AD discovery research. A long-term goal is to obtain a National Institute of Aging Alzheimer's Disease Research Center P30 grant. This new initiative will continue to increase OSU's growing strength in AD and neuroscience within the College of Medicine and across OSU. Currently, OSU has significant related strengths in neuroscience and neuroinflammation, digital pathology and telehealth including TeleCog:  telehealth for cognition network, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, and human and animal imaging.

OSU College of Medicine is a key component of The OSU Wexner Medical Center, one of the largest and most comprehensive health sciences campuses and universities in the world. The medical center comprises seven hospitals and more than 100 clinical sites, 2,100 clinical faculty, 800 residents and fellows and 20 research centers and institutes with 25 core research laboratories that promote collaboration among experts from virtually all departments, divisions, and branch campuses of OSU.

The successful candidate will be an MD, MD/PhD or PhD whose vision will integrate and grow OSU's portfolio to become a national leader in AD basic, translational and clinical research. Candidates should have an active NIH-funded research program, be able to recruit, mentor and build partnerships, and possess strong leadership acumen.

It is anticipated that the Director will hold an appointment in the Department of Neurology, Neuroscience, Pathology, and/or Psychiatry. If the Director is a physician, it is expected that the majority of their effort will be focused on building research initiatives to drive innovative care and improve patient outcomes.

Nominations, inquiries and applications including a CV and cover letter, can be sent to Joyce De Leo, PhD or Walt Ettinger, MD or Kerry Quealy at OSU_CADR@wittkieffer.com or by phone at 630.575.6159.
