Assistant, Associate or Full Professor/ Maurice K. Goddard Endowed Chair in Forestry and Environmental Resource Conservation (tenure track)

Responsibilities: The College of Agricultural Sciences seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor to fill the Maurice K. Goddard Chair in Forestry and Environmental Resource Conservation. The Goddard Chair provides leadership in natural resource conservation through research (50%), teaching (25%) and extension (outreach)(25%). The Goddard Chair should have an internationally recognized research program in fields related to forests and/or environmental resources, with a strong track record of extramural funding. The Chair is expected to foster multidisciplinary interactions across the College and the University through various institutes including the College of Agricultural Sciences Environmental and Natural Resources Institute. The Chair is expected to cultivate the professional development of undergraduate and graduate students who are studying environmental issues, and lead in conducting scholarship related to natural resource conservation and environmental policy. Besides an undergraduate course related to natural resource conservation and policy, the Chair is also expected to teach a graduate class in his/her area of expertise. The candidate's expertise and research program should enable the candidate to actively engage in environmental and natural resource issues of high contemporary priority to society. Successful candidates should articulate ways in which they advised policy processes and decisions on natural resource issues with emphasis on the role of research in assessing solutions. Qualifications: A Ph.D. is required by the date of application in one of a broad range of professional disciplines related to natural resources policy including, but not limited to, agriculture, biology, forestry, wildlife, fisheries, and soil science. Communication, creative leadership, congeniality, and the ability to work cooperatively among a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, industry and agency groups is essential in our Department and University. The holder of the Chair should have a distinguished record of accomplishments in natural resources research that informs policy. The candidate must possess a demonstrable ability to lead and inspire commitment on the broadest possible scale. The successful candidate will be appointed in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, College of Agricultural Sciences. The appointment is available with a negotiable starting date.
