Post-doctoral position in the University of Michigan Center for Molecular Imaging. The Luker Laboratory seeks a candidate with expertise and interest in optical imaging, computational image analysis, and cancer to lead a project based on investigating regulators of metastasis-initiating cells in breast cancer. Available imaging technologies include multi-photon fluorescence microscopy, light-sheet microscopy, fluorescence lifetime imaging, and time-lapse epifluorescence microscopy. Imaging studies encompass cell-based assays, 3D culture models, and intravital microscopy. This project is an exciting opportunity to integrate multi-scale quantitative imaging, cell-based assays, and mouse models to discover key molecules and signaling pathways driving metastasis in breast cancer. The selected candidate will be expected to generate data in the first year of the fellowship to support applications for external funding for post-doctoral fellowships. The Luker Laboratory is an interdisciplinary group that combines design of imaging reporters, quantitative imaging methods, computational modeling, artificial intelligence-based image processing, and cancer biology to investigate mechanisms driving tumor initiation, metastasis, and response to therapy. We collaborate extensively with other investigators in the Medical School and College of Engineering. The successful candidate will have outstanding communications skills and operate as part of an interactive, team-based research environment. Candidates should have expertise in molecular/cell biology, optical imaging in living systems, animal models of cancer, and/or computational methods relevant to image processing and analysis. Candidates must have received a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline, such as biomedical engineering, biochemistry, cell or cancer biology, etc. The position is available immediately

Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have a PhD and/or MD with a background in cancer biology, cell/molecular biology, and/or quantitative imaging with fluorescence microscopy.

Desired Requirements: Conscientious, responsible person to work in a collaborative team of undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and other staff members working on quantitative, multi-scale imaging and cell engineering focused on mechanisms of cancer and response to therapy. Candidate must have excellent organizational and communications skills and be interested in learning new skills.
