Position Title
Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Behavioral Neuroscience

PI and Department
Dr. Zheng-Ming Ding at Department of Anesthesiology.

Job Description
Dr. Ding's research is focused on elucidating neurobiological mechanisms underlying the development of substance use disorders, including nicotine and ethanol. Rat models and an array of behavioral, neurochemical, and molecular biological techniques are currently utilized in the lab. On-going projects investigate 1) the role of cotinine, the major metabolite of nicotine, in the development of nicotine reinforcement, 2) the involvement of mesocorticolimbic glutamate and dopamine in ethanol and nicotine use, and 3) neuro-circuitry involved in drug use. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with strong creative and critical thinking and a desire to learn and expand their interests and expertise.

Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. in behavioral neuroscience or related disciplines
  2. Excellent knowledge and expertise in behavioral models related to drug addiction
  3. Experience using immunoassay (Western blot, immunohistochemistry etc.) for protein analysis
  4. Experience in microdialysis and HPLC


Appointment
2-3 years contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary competitive and commensurate with education and experience
