Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute at Columbia University in the City of New York, USA

The Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute at Columbia University brings together researchers from different scientific disciplines to transform our understanding of the mind and brain. In this highly interactive research environment, laboratories work together to gain critical insights into human health by exploring how the brain develops, performs, endures and recovers. The Zuckerman Institute is housed in the Jerome L. Greene Science Center, an architectural masterpiece on Columbia University’s new Manhattanville campus.

The Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute at Columbia University in the City of New York (https://zuckermaninstitute.columbia.edu/), is seeking to hire  an outstanding scientist with strong background in a neuroscience-related discipline to join the groups of Darcy Peterka and Joseph Gogos as part of a project aiming at using mouse models and one/two-photon imaging methods to probe the effect that psychiatric risk mutations have on mesoscale interactions between different cortical regions as well as on local microcircuit activity during behaviors.

Applicants with expertise in calcium imaging, image analysis, neural circuit manipulations and behavioral studies will be preferred and are encouraged to apply. Ability to work independently, critical thinking skills, strong communication skills as well as a dedication to teamwork and collaboration are qualities sought after.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary group and perform cutting-edge research on the neurobiological mechanisms of psychiatric disorders, especially in relation to genetic risk for schizophrenia,

If you are interested in joining this project, please send your CV with a brief description of your current research, as well as 2-3 contacts for references, to dp2403@columbia.edu and jag90@columbia.edu
