Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Oklahoma State University (http://microbiology.okstate.edu) invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. This position consists of research, teaching, and service. We seek outstanding candidates exploring host-microbe interactions, pathogenesis, or host-microbiome interactions. Laboratory space accommodating BSL-1, BSL-2 or BSL-3 is available. The successful applicant is expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program. Collaborative research is encouraged. Outstanding teaching performance in undergraduate and graduate courses on topics related to host-pathogen interactions is expected.

The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics is a dynamic multicultural center of discovery, innovation, and collaboration.We have 14 faculty members and approximately 40 graduate students and 275 undergraduate majors. Our nationally funded research programs cover bacterial and eukaryotic systems, including environmental microbiology, mechanisms of pathogenesis, and cell biology. Our research programs are supported by state-of-the-art core facilities for genomics and bioinformatics, mass spectroscopy, microscopy, protein analysis, and biophysical instrumentation and by an animal/veterinary facility.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in microbiology or a closely related field. At least two years of post-doctoral research experience is required. Applicants should provide evidence of research accomplishments and a strong potential for obtaining external research funding. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary and start-up package. Review of applications will commence on November 15th, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled.
