Assistant Professor of Biology: Neuroscience

The Department of Biology (http://www.uvm.edu/~biology/) at the University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Neuroscience specializing in neural circuits, to begin in the fall of 2020. We are looking for candidates asking fundamental questions about the development of neural circuit function, connectivity, and dynamics. Successful candidates will have a multidisciplinary approach using molecular, cellular, genetic, physiological, and/or computational methods in any model organism. All applicants are expected to: 1) hold a Ph.D. degree in neuroscience, physiology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline; 2) have two or more years of postdoctoral experience; 3) develop a competitively funded research program; 4) teach undergraduate and graduate courses ranging from general biology to an area of the candidate’s expertise; and 5) mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate master’s and doctoral students, in addition to professional contributions and service. The UVM Biology Department is a broad, basic science department whose faculty members’ research spans a range of core disciplines including biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, neuroscience, ecology and evolution.
