Assistant Professor – Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Aging and Aging-related Disease

The Department of Biological Sciences invites applicants for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to begin September 1, 2020. We are seeking candidates with research interests directed at cellular and molecular mechanisms of aging and age-related diseases including but not limited to, neurodegenerative disorders, cancer, and diabetes. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and post-doctoral experience in an appropriate field, will develop an extramurally funded research program, will supervise Ph.D. and M.S. students and undergraduate research projects and will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in area of expertise.  The candidate’s research program should augment the research directions in the Department of Biological Sciences and-or the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging.  Information on Departmental programs can be found at https://biology.du.edu.  The research lab will be housed in the new Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging https://www.du.edu/knoebel-institute-healthy-aging/index.html  and the candidate will have opportunity for interactions within the Institute. Existing research groups at the Institute are focused Alzheimer’s disease, ALS, Parkinson’s disease, Down syndrome and Healthy Aging.
