Position Description

The Yale Microbial Sciences Institute, in partnership with the Departments of Cellular and Molecular Physiology, Genetics, Immunobiology, and Microbial Pathogenesis at Yale School of Medicine, seeks applicants for an assistant professor tenure track faculty position at the interface of microbiology, health, and disease.

The Microbial Sciences Institute (MSI) brings together research groups from multiple departments in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine with a shared focus on microbiology. MSI labs explore diverse aspects of the microbial world, including structural and chemical biology of host-pathogen interaction, microbial community assembly and evolution, and the biophysics of bacterial metabolism. MSI labs interact closely with Systems Biology, Chemical Biology, and other institutes at Yale’s West Campus.

Qualifications:

Applications will be evaluated by search committees from the MSI and partnering departments at the School of Medicine (as appropriate for the research topic) for alignment with both the MSI and the department. The position includes a primary faculty appointment in one of these departments; please visit the departmental websites for faculty interests and further information. Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree.

Application instructions:

Applications should contain a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a description of previous research (1 page), a concise statement of research plans (up to 3 pages), reprints of up to 4 publications, and 3 confidential letters of recommendation. Applicants must apply through the Interfolio website at: http://apply.interfolio.com/68850.

Consideration of applications will begin on November 1st, 2019 and continue until the position is filled. Inquiries about the position may be sent to the attention of Dr. Andrew Goodman, Director of the Microbial Sciences Institute, c/o Bianca Abreu (bianca.abreu@yale.edu).

For candidates selected in partnership with the Department of Genetics, interviews will take place as part of a multidisciplinary symposium including candidates for different searches. Please reserve the dates of January 14-15 2020, January 21-22 2020, and February 11-12 2020 (snow date) for the symposium in case you are selected for an interview.
