Faculty Position in Energy Engineering

The Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth seeks to fill an open rank (assistant, associate, or full professor) tenure-track faculty position in energy engineering.  The successful candidate will have a doctorate in engineering or a related, relevant scientific field and show strong potential to lead an externally-funded research program targeting transformational advances in energy systems and/or technologies. The candidate will further be a gifted teacher with motivation and expertise that complements the Thayer School’s distinctive interdisciplinary approach to engineering education in general, and ability to teach courses in environmental engineering in particular.

The Thayer School of Engineering is planning a significant expansion of faculty and programs, and this position will join a large and thriving cluster of researchers in energy, including those affiliated with the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society.  Exceptionally qualified senior candidates may be eligible for a chaired professorship affiliated with the Irving Institute.

Dartmouth student populations are diverse by many measures. We are especially interested in applicants with a record of successful collaboration, teaching, and mentoring of people from all backgrounds (including first-generation college students, low-income students, racial and ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ, etc.). We welcome applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented in the field. Applicants are encouraged to state in their cover letter how they will enhance the diversity of offerings and educational experiences at Dartmouth College.

Review of applications will begin November 1, 2019. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, complete CV, statement of research and teaching interests and philosophy, and contact information for three references via Interfolio at: apply.interfolio.com/64717/

Inquiries about the position should be directed to Professor Laura Ray, Laura.E.Ray@dartmouth.edu.
