Assistant Professor in Chemistry (Synthetic Chemistry)

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Old Dominion University invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the areas of synthetic organic, synthetic inorganic, and synthetic polymer chemistry starting July 2020 or December 2020.  Preference will be given to applicants with interests in biochemically related applications and applications related to nano-materials or catalysis.  Successful candidates are expected to establish a funded and nationally recognized research program. Individuals selected for a position will join a growing department with a record of successful funding (NSF, NIH, USDA) that will occupy a new research and teaching facility (a $77 million 110,000 sq. ft. Chemistry and Biochemistry building) in Fall 2020. In order to attract the most qualified applicants for this research expansion, generous start-up packages with unprecedented assigned research space are being offered.  

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry with a specialization in synthetic chemistry. Postdoctoral experience is strongly encouraged.
