A postdoctoral position is now available in the Slesinger laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. The Slesinger lab is investigating the genetic links in alcoholism using a model of human neurons derived from induced pluripotent stem cells. We plan to examine the effects of specific genes and sets of genes on the excitability of different types of human neurons. The postdoc will develop an interdisciplinary set of skills, including patch-clamp electrophysiology, calcium imaging, immunohistochemistry, and transcriptomic analyses. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with a PhD in Neuroscience/Biochemistry or other relevant field, and one or more first-author publication(s) from their PhD. Experience in one or more of hiPSC studies, patch-clamp electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and/or transcriptomic analyses is preferable.

Apply

Interested candidates should contact paul.slesinger@mssm.edu and provide a curriculum vitae, a brief description of their research goals, and names for three references.
