Continuing a major faculty hiring initiative that includes multiple positions in biophysics, the Department of Physics at the University of Florida (UF) seeks a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Experimental Biological Physics to begin on August 16, 2020. Applications are encouraged from highly qualified experimentalists in all areas of biological physics and biophysics, including but not limited to molecular and cellular function and dynamics, signaling and information processing, systems biology, collective behavior, neural dynamics and behavior, cellular and organismal physiology and development, ecology and evolution, and related topics.

The successful candidate will join a growing theoretical and experimental biophysics group in the UF Physics Department (https://www.phys.ufl.edu/wp/index.php/research/biological-physics/). The Department is well equipped with modern laboratory space as well as in-house machine and electronic shops and cryogenic facilities. Micro- and nanofabrication facilities are available at the nearby UF Nanoscale Institute. Excellent opportunities for collaboration with biomedical researchers exist on campus through the six colleges of the UF Health Science Center, the Cancer and Genetics Research Center, the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the McKnight Brain Institute, the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, and the High B/T Facility of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL). The main NHMFL facility is also nearby in Tallahassee, Florida.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related field, and have postdoctoral research experience. A strong established research program with a compelling plan for future research, and clear potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body, are essential. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience typical for an appointment at the Assistant Professor level, and includes a full benefits package.

Applications must be submitted online at https://apply.interfolio.com/68758, and must include: (i) cover letter, (ii) curriculum vitae with full publication list, (iii) statement of research and proposed activities, (iv) statement of teaching philosophy, (v) three confidential letters of recommendation. Reference providers will only be notified of their upload link once an application is submitted in full, so early completion is highly recommended.

To ensure full consideration, applications must be submitted by November 16, 2019. For more information, please contact the Chair of the Experimental Biological Physics Search at biosearch-expt@phys.ufl.edu.
