London
Research Fellow (Molecular Cell Biologist)
Full Time
The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7.
The salary range will be £35,965 to £43,470 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The Lloyd lab studies tissue homeostasis and regeneration and the links between these processes and cancer development using the mammalian peripheral nervous system as a model system ( https://www.ucl.ac.uk/lmcb/users/alison-lloyd) (Cell 162: 1127-39, Neuron 73:729-742, Development 145, dev170316, Curr Opin Neurobiol, 39 38-46). This CRUK-funded project aims to study the multicellular complexity of peripheral nerve regeneration and how these are co-opted during cancer development.
The main purpose of the role will be to study the links between peripheral nerve regeneration and cancer with an aim to develop new therapeutic approaches. Main responsibilities will include managing the running of several research projects, maintaining relevant research mouse colonies and carrying out molecular and imaging studies of the peripheral nerve.
The position is initially a three year appointment with the possibility of a further two year extension.
Candidates are expected to be exceptional, highly motivated scientists who have a strong track record of research in a relevant area of the life sciences and a strong commitment to working in the field of cancer biology. A strong background in molecular and cell biology is necessary with experience in in vivo mouse work an advantage for this project.
