Hamburg is implementing an inter-university strategy to strengthen informatics and computer science in the context of digitalization. The cooperation platform ahoi.digital increases and enhances cooperation in informatics education, research, and technology transfer between Universität Hamburg, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW), the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), and HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU).

The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences invites applications for a

PROFESSORSHIP (W2/W3) FOR INFORMATICS
WITH A FOCUS ON AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS

commencing as soon as possible, ref. no. 2310.

Responsibilities:

We seek a scientist with an outstanding track record in the field of autonomous systems. The successful candidate is expected to independently represent the field of autonomous systems. We are looking for someone with a proven record of international publications and research in the field of autonomous systems with a research focus in the field, for example, of autonomous environment analysis or the management of sensor-based autonomous systems. Experience in the application of autonomous systems, for example, in areas such as driver assistance systems, intelligent robots, autonomous logistic systems, human-computer interaction, smart factories, or autonomous software monitoring systems is expected.

 

The successful candidate is further expected to actively participate in existing and planned interdisciplinary research projects in informatics in the field of cognitive systems. Links to cyber-physical systems, embedded systems, and chip design are desired. The position requires a willingness to work with other research groups in the Department and in interdisciplinary projects within Universität Hamburg.

Furthermore, we expect active participation in ahoi.digital, the cooperation platform for informatics at Hamburg’s higher education institutions.

Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.

Requirements:

Academic qualifications and additional requirements as specified in Section 15 HmbHG.

Additional criteria:

Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.

Applicants should outline their proposed scientific direction for this position in a research proposal. The successful candidate is expected to have very good teaching skills and be prepared to contribute to undergraduate teaching in all degree programs at the Department of Informatics and the instruction of teacher-training students.

Following hearings, selected candidates will be assessed to ascertain skills in the areas of management and human resources.
