Postdoctoral Research Associate in Global Food System and Climate/Environment Tradeoffs

The Princeton Environmental Institute (PEI) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate or more senior researcher to address the global food system and its interactions with climate, biodiversity and socioeconomical-political constraints. Agriculture, from production to consumption, has one of the largest environmental footprints of all human activities. We seek applicants from the natural, social and engineering sciences as well as the humanities who are keenly interested in solving the global food problem in ways that are environmentally and economically sustainable. Of interest is the application of novel quantitative and modeling approaches to understand food system tradeoffs associated with climate change, water/nutrient cycles, biodiversity loss, and/or socioeconomic factors.

The ‘Feeding the World in 2050’ initiative is a partnership between Princeton University, the Stockholm Resilience Centre and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. The successful applicant will join a growing community of faculty and postdoctoral associates who are building a program in Food, Agriculture and Environment at Princeton and in association with our partner institutions. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. degree in a related field. The appointment is for one year, with possibility for renewal.

Applicants should apply https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/13881 and submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, brief statement of research interest, and names and contact information for three references. All materials must be submitted online. Evaluation of applications will begin October 31 and continue until the position are filled.

This position is subject to the University’s background check policy. Princeton University is an equal opportunity employer/affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
