Department of Cell and Developmental Biology

We invite applications for afaculty position in the area of neuroscience/ neurotechnology, with a focus on cellular and developmental neuroscience.  Successful candidates will be expected to establish a vigorous, innovative and independent research program and participate in teaching. They will join a highly interactive, interdisciplinary group of faculty, students, and fellows, who investigate many aspects of cell and developmental biology. The neuroscience research in the department includes investigations on quantitative cell biology, glial cells, ion channels and taste and smell sensory systems. 
 
This recruitment will be in conjunction with the new Neurotechnology Center at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. This Neurotechnology Center supports research moving neuroscience forward through new technology. Thus, the successful candidate will use and/or develop novel approaches to investigations of nervous system development and function. 

The neuroscience community at the University of Colorado School of Medicine is very diverse. Faculty in several of the basic science departments and multiple clinical departments are actively involved in basic and disease-focused research. Additionally there is a strong interdepartmental Neuroscience Graduate Program (http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/medicalschool/programs/Neuroscience/Pages/Neuroscience.aspx). This graduate program currently has almost 50 graduate students working in laboratories in basic science and clinical departments.

The Department of Cell and Developmental Biology is one of six basic science departments in the School of Medicine on the Anschutz Medical Campus at the University of Colorado. New faculty will join a growing enterprise with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities on the Anschutz Medical Campus (please visit www.medschool.ucdenver.edu/cdb). This campus opened 15 years ago and continues to build new research and clinical buildings, along with a growing bioscience park. 

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and have a strong record of research accomplishments.
