Assistant Professor of Biology (Physiology)

The Department of Natural Sciences in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL) invites applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Human Physiology beginning September 2020.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a competitive research program in physiology capable of securing extramural funding and have a strong commitment to teaching. Candidates must have broad training in physiology and demonstrated research productivity. The area of research specialization within physiology is open. We particularly encourage systemic and pathophysiologists using molecular, cellular and whole animal approaches, to apply. Tenure‐track faculty members are expected to maintain an active research program that meaningfully engages undergraduate students and leads to peer‐reviewed publications. Start‐up funding and a research laboratory in our newly renovated Natural Science Building will be provided. Teaching duties include upper-level courses in anatomy and physiology, human physiology and participation in introductory biology courses. Opportunities also exist for developing new courses within the applicant’s specialty.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree and relevant post-doctoral experience in physiology or a related field are required. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience.
