The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana invite applications for a tenure track position at the level of assistant professor with expertise in single particle cryo-electron microscopy and/or tomography. The successful candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized research program with extramural funding, to deliver courses in the molecular life sciences at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and to participate in professional and university outreach and service activities. The position includes access to the University’s Tecnai T-12 and newly acquired Talos Arctica/Gatan K3 instruments. The candidate will join an active structural biology group with expertise in X-ray crystallography, NMR and mass spectrometry. MSU maintains a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with research programs focused on metalloproteins, metals in biology, virology, pathogen microbiology, innate and acquired immunity, cell and developmental biology, biophysics, metabolomics, proteomics, neurobiology/neuroscience, host/pathogen interactions, biofilm microbiology, environmental microbiology and materials science. A Ph.D. in the molecular life sciences or a related field is required at the time of appointment, and postdoctoral experience is highly desirable.
