Harkness Eye Institute for a highly motivated scientist with a strong background in molecular genetics, bioinformatics, and computer programming. The main focus of the project is identification and characterization of genetic networks and signaling pathways regulating refractive eye development using systems genetics approaches.
Primary responsibilities: The postdoctoral scientist will be responsible for the development of cutting edge computational platforms for the integration of genetic mapping, bisulfite sequencing, RNA-seq, and other omics datasets. He/she will also be responsible for the design and implementation of systems genetics studies, collection and analysis of data, as well as preparation of results for publication in research journals and presentation at national and international meetings.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in genetics, molecular genetics, molecular biology, or bioinformatics
- Strong experience with next-generation sequencing technologies such as whole-genome sequencing, bisulfite sequencing, and RNA-seq.
- Strong experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis
- Working knowledge of R and Python programming languages
- Established track record of publishing in peer-reviewed research journals
- Strong communication skills
Harkness Eye Institute and Columbia University Medical Center have strong interest in human and mouse genetics, outstanding infrastructure for advanced genetics research, and a highly collaborative environment.
