Job Details

The School of Health Professions is committed to the education of health care professionals, through formal academic programs that award institutional certificates and degrees in health sciences. SHP provides an academic and clinical education in a broad spectrum of degrees that can only be found at a major medical care and academic research center such as MD Anderson.

The Education Coordinator will provide student laboratory and didactic training and mentoring in the junior year curriculum for the clinical lab medicine programs.

Key Functions

• Responsible for the daily operations of the junior year lab.

• Participate in programmatic and regional accreditation activities.

• Participate in continued evaluation of the program within their discipline/s

• Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus

• Develop and maintain the lab experience curricula to coincide with national guidelines.

• Develop and instruct in the didactic course work of their profession within the School of Health Professions

Administrative Duties as Education Coordinator may include the following:

• Participates in the student recruitment, selection and admission process. Assists in the preparation for and maintenance of program accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

• Supervise, develop, and instruct in the core curriculum courses in the School of Health Professions.

• Assist in the development and operation of the program by participating in the formulation of program, lab, and clinical policies and procedures.

• Communicates effectively with staff, peers, director, and external and internal customers.

• Assign grades for all students completing the clinical core components of the program based on clinical input as assigned by the Junior Coordinator.

Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree.
Preferred: Doctorate (Academic)

Preferred Certification: Either, MB(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), CT(ASCP), CG(ASCP), HTL(ASCP).

Experience: Three years of relevant experience. May substitute additional experience for required education on a one to one basis.

Preferred: Five years of relevant experience (education, clinical, molecular research). Abilities to instruct in the areas of Lab Math, Basic and Molecular Lab Skills, Pathology of Body Fluids, and/or Clinical Immunology are desired.
