SUMMARY

The primary purpose of this position is to design and implement processes/solutions associated with a wide variety of data sets used for data mining, analysis, modeling, and prediction to enable informed research decisions within the Immunoprofiling lab (TMP-IL) in the Department of Translational Molecular Pathology. The successful candidate will assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting and ensure that data is collected at designated stages in the project lifecycle and entered into appropriate database(s). The candidate will prepare specific report(s) and analyses to aid the Sr Data Analyst in decisions-making process.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Data Management

- Assists Sr Data Analyst, Scientific Project Directors, and Data

Coordinators to organize, cleanse and prepare data for loading.
- Assists Research Scientists and Investigators to organize and prepare data for loading.
- Assists users at all levels to identify potential data management solutions to enhance productivity of the TMP-IL lab.
- Assists end users to perform analysis of requirements and develop prototypes.
- Identifies and develops data visualization methods for high fidelity data presentation.
- Assisst key members of the TMP-IL on data standards and data sharing with Alliances and other external collaborators.

Analytics and Reporting

- Assists Research Scientists and Investigators with development of reports and visualizations.
- Assists TMP-IL and IHC labs specimen and data team to ensure reporting features and functions are available.
- Assists TMP-IL Laboratory team to ensure reporting features/functions are available.
- Interfaces Analytic and Reporting tools with Source Systems.
- Build queries and assists in providing end user support for analyzing data.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, descriptive statistics, univariate and multivariate analysis, regression, survival analysis and longitudinal data analysis under supervision of the Sr. Data Analyst.
- Prepares specific protocol reports and analysis to aid decisions regarding therapeutic efficacy and to assist in manuscript preparation and submissions
- Develop and implement plans to meet requirements of new studies/protocols
- Develops and manages computerized databases appropriate to the design of various research studies.
- Conducts quality assurance reviews of research processes and data.
- Ensure validity and integrity of data.

General Functions

- Coordinates efforts with systems owners and users.
- Facilitates and coordinates the smooth flow of data management-related communication by acting as a liaison.
- Extracts and compiles various sources of information/large data sets from various systems or applications.
- Sets up process for monitoring, tracking, and trending information/data using various systems or applications.
- Prepares well-organized, easily understood reports, analysis, and summary of findings for use by management.
- Assists in preparation of regularly produced reports to support executive decision making.
- Researches and analyzes report results identifying opportunities/trends.
- Works with internal, external and enterprise individuals as needed to research, develop and document new standard reports or processes.
- Consolidates data from multiple sources, using industry-based tools or manually; must be able to process data effectively using Microsoft Excel and Business Intelligence tools.
- Works with MDACC and other informatics collaborators to develop Data Mining capability.
- Maintains and exercises AGILE development principles and practices.
- Supports management and other team members as requested on all things data related.
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Possesses ability to work in a high demand and dynamic environment.
- Possesses ability to solve problems and provide solutions to all aspects of data management challenges.

Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Nursing or related field. Three years of related experience. Additional years of education may be substituted for experience on a one to one basis.
