The laboratory of Dr. Akshaya Meher at the Brody School of Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Immunology is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to investigate the role of B cells in murine models of aortic aneurysms and diabetes. The candidate should hold a PhD in biochemistry, immunology, pharmacology, molecular biology, or a closely related field and interested in studying the roles of immune cells in diseases. Responsibilities include management of mouse breeding, minor murine surgery, isolation and digestion of murine tissues, flow cytometry, and isolation and culture of primary immune cells.  The scholar is expected to have expertise in Western blotting, intracellular signaling, real-time RT-PCR, RNA sequencing and IPA, immunehistology, ELISA, ELISPOT assays, and cellular bioenergetics. The scholar will perform hypothesis-driven research, learn new techniques, and apply for postdoctoral/career development grant applications.
