Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Respiratory Diseases

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is seeking applicants for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position (75% research and 25% teaching) in the area of Respiratory Diseases. While all candidates working on respiratory diseases are encouraged to apply, we are particularly interested in candidates working on research projects that involve animal diseases/models that impact animal husbandry and/or fall under the “one health” designation. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an independent competitive research program on the molecular basis of respiratory disease that is nationally funded. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses relative to his/her expertise and the needs of the department. Training undergraduate and graduate researchers is also expected. The multi-disciplinary research environment at Oklahoma State University provides ample opportunities for collaboration with the faculty members from multiple colleges and departments, and members of the NIH CoBRE funded Oklahoma Center for Respiratory and Infectious Diseases.

The fundamental mission of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge through pioneering research and teaching, and we strive to achieve the goals of the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (DASNR). The individual hired for this position will be encouraged to collaborate with other DASNR researchers, and provide expertise in the area of respiratory disease to enhance current DASNR research efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements for the position include a Ph.D. in Systems Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Animal Sciences, or a related field, and at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience. Applicants must be committed to excellence in research, teaching and service to the Department. Preference will be given to candidates with: excellent communication and interpersonal skills, evidence of research success, a passion for teaching both undergraduate and graduate students, and the ability to collaborate. 

SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with education, training and experience.  The appointment also comes with competitive start-up funds and ample laboratory space.
