Postdoctoral Position Available
Postdoctoral position available in Dr. Jiang Zhu’s laboratory for highly motivated candidates who are interested in vaccine development for viral (HIV-1, HCV, Ebola, Lassa, Zika, Dengue, Flu, RSV, and MERS-CoV) and non-viral (malaria and tuberculosis) pathogens. Postdoctoral salary is in the range of $54,000 to $60,000 depending on prior research experience and qualifications. Dr. Zhu holds a joint appointment in the Department of Integrative Structural and Computational Biology (ISCB) and the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at Scripps Research in La Jolla, CA (https://www.scripps.edu/). Details of Dr. Zhu’s laboratory, on-going research projects, and recent publications can be found at https://www.jzhulab.org/.
Research projects may involve, but are not limited to, (1) vaccine immunology: immunological analysis of vaccine-induced response in small animals and non-human primates, and antibody isolation using antigen-specific single B cell sorting and culturing; (2) vaccine delivery system: development of viral vectors such as adenovirus and poxvirus as vaccine carriers, development of virus-like particles (VLPs) and production of VLPs in insect, plant and mammalian cell lines, and mRNA/lipid vaccine formulation; and (3) structural biology: structural analysis of antigen-antibody complexes by X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (EM).
Successful candidates will have a recent Ph.D. in microbiology, immunology, vaccinology, structural biology, or related fields. Candidates with prior research experience in HIV-1 vaccine immunology may be considered for a project scientist position. Interested applicants should send the following materials in an application packet, preferably as a single PDF file, by email to Dr. Jiang Zhu (jiang@scripps.edu):
