The School of Biological Sciences at Illinois State University in Normal, IL (www.bio.illinoisstate.edu) invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track position in CONSERVATION BIOLOGY at the level of Assistant Professor. The School of Biological Sciences comprises 26 faculty, approximately 65 graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D.), and over 750 undergraduate majors. It offers a collegial environment fostering collaboration among organismal biologists, cell and molecular biologists, physiologists, and neuroscientists.

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF CONSERVATION BIOLOGY. We seek candidates whose research addresses contemporary issues in conservation biology, broadly defined. We are particularly interested in candidates that bridge conservation with related fields such as evolution, ecology, genetics, or physiology, and are able to contribute to course offerings in conservation biology at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The successful candidate is expected to establish a rigorous, nationally recognized, extramurally funded research program, mentor B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. students in their research group, and have the ability to provide effective, evidence-based instruction in their discipline. A Ph.D. in the specific field of biology or a closely related field, and post-doctoral experience are required. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement of this position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
