The University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine (UPSDM) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-stream faculty position in the Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics (CCDG), at the assistant or associate professor level. Rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and credentials.

The University of Pittsburgh is a top ranked public research institution and is currently ranked 5th among the top universities in NIH funding, while the UPSDM is ranked 6th in NIDCR funding among U.S. dental schools. The UPSDM is located on the University’s main campus in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, in close proximity to the other five health science schools. The CCDG is housed within the UPSDM’s multi-disciplinary basic sciences department. CCDG faculty members have close connections to the Department of Human Genetics, which is located in the Graduate School of Public Health. The CCDG is currently focused on three main areas of research: the genomics and phenomics of orofacial clefting, the genetic basis of human craniofacial variation, and genetic and epidemiological studies of oral health. We are seeking outstanding individuals who can complement and potentially expand the research profile of the CCDG. We will consider candidates from a wide variety of disciplinary backgrounds, including but not limited to, human genetics, epidemiology, computational or systems biology, and the morphological sciences (e.g., biological anthropology). Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated interest in craniofacial and/or oral sciences. The candidates will be expected to develop and/or maintain an independent research program commensurate with the expectations of tenure. The candidates will also be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the university and serve as a research mentor to students.

Successful candidates will hold a PhD, DMD/DDS, MD, or equivalent degree.
