The University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a distinguished academic leader for the position of CHAIR of the DEPARTMENT OF PATHOBIOLOGY. Appointment will be at the level of FULL PROFESSOR with TENURE.

The Department of Pathobiology contains faculty members with diverse expertise representing basic and translational research, laboratory animal medicine, and clinical diagnostics including pathology, microbiology and parasitology. It is recognized as one of the foremost basic science departments in veterinary medicine, is a key partner in biomedical research at Penn, and has contributed globally to our mechanistic understanding of host-pathogen interactions, fundamental immunology, neuro-inflammation, and cancer. With over $59 million in current funding from NIH and other sources, the Department supports the Penn Vet Imaging Core, Comparative Pathology Core, Center for Host Microbial Interactions, the Division of Laboratory Animal Medicine, and the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Lab System (PADLS). It also plays a vital role in post-graduate veterinary training and Biomedical Graduate Studies across Penn’s campus, and pathobiology faculty serve in leadership and teaching roles in the Immunology and the Cell and Molecular Biology Graduate Groups. The department delivers foundational veterinary education based upon contemporary biomedical principles. The unique proximity to premier academic veterinary and medical hospitals provides ample opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research to advance both veterinary and human medicine.  Details of the research interests of the department may be found at:
