The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at New Mexico State University (NMSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor (Position 197591) level beginning August 2020. This is an open search and applicants with teaching interests and research expertise in all areas of chemistry, including interdisciplinary research, are encouraged to apply (see https://chemistry.nmsu.edu/people/faculty/ for current research areas). Our department has strong doctoral and undergraduate programs and promotes research, development and education in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. The ideal applicant is expected to conduct innovative research that complements and expands existing expertise in the department and to establish an outstanding, externally funded research program. Collaboration across broad areas of scientific study and participation in multi-investigator grant funding are encouraged. Candidates are expected to have a strong record of research accomplishments in their area. Teaching assignments will include courses in General Chemistry and in the successful candidate’s area of expertise.

Required Qualifications: A doctorate in Chemistry or related scientific field, postdoctoral training and a publication record commensurate with appointment to a Ph.D. program are required. The applicant is expected to develop an independent extramurally funded research program.
