The BIOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF EMORY UNIVERSITY, Atlanta, GA seeks faculty whose research is in the field of Epigenetics: including a traditional experimental research position and a more computational position. We seek highly creative, interactive, and outstanding geneticists and/or computational biologists with research interests in Epigenetic mechanisms related to gene expression, genome integrity, genome evolution, or development. All computational approaches and model systems related to these topics will be considered. We invite applications at the Assistant Professor rank, although appointment at a higher rank may be considered in exceptional cases. The successful applicants will have a Ph.D. with post-doctoral experience, an excellent record of productivity, and will be expected to contribute to undergraduate teaching in one of the following areas: genetics, biochemistry, cell biology, developmental biology, or bioinformatics/ computational biology. Applicants will be evaluated on their research accomplishments, a demonstrated ability or potential for success in attracting external funding, potential interactions with other members of the Emory community, and their experience and enthusiasm toward participating in the teaching and research missions of the Department.

 The Biology Department faculty (http://www.biology.emory.edu/) are well-funded, productive, and actively engaged in the research and teaching missions of Emory, a top-ranked research university. The successful applicant will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, resources, and enjoy academic interactions with over 300 faculty engaged in biomedical research at Emory University and other regional institutions. Emory is located on a beautiful campus in Atlanta, one of the United States’ most vibrant, diverse, and affordable metropolitan areas.

Applicants should submit the following: 1) A cover letter; 2) The applicant’s CV; 3) A description of the applicant’s research experience, interests, proposed projects and goals for their independent, externally funded laboratory; 4) A statement of their teaching experience, interests, and teaching philosophy; and 5) A statement describing their experience and vision regarding the teaching and mentorship of students of diverse backgrounds.
