Tenure-Track Cluster Hires in Microbiomes and Microbial Systems

Carnegie Mellon is in the midst of an exciting growth phase in the area of microbial science and engineering. The Departments of Biological Sciences, Computational Biology, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Chemical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University are seeking tenure-track faculty candidates using experimental and/or computational approaches to investigate or engineer microbial systems. Areas of interest include molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis, microbial ecology of complex or environmental systems, and biomedical applications. Candidates using one or more of microfluidics, metagenomics/multiomics, quantitative imaging, single cell approaches, and/or computational and theoretical modeling are of particular interest. CMU fosters transdisciplinary collaborative approaches to compelling societal challenges and is looking for candidates who would benefit from and contribute to an environment that fosters campus-wide multi-departmental collaborative research projects. 

Faculty have access to facilities that include a state-of-the-art animal facility, neuroimaging and biological microscopy centers, high-performance computing clusters, and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center.  We welcome candidates in all research areas and at all ranks. Qualifications
A Ph.D. or M.D. degree, along with postdoctoral research experience, is required. This tenure-track appointment will preferably be made at the assistant professor level, but other levels may be considered.
