Postdoc Opportunity to study mechanisms of Cystic Kidney Disease

The Airik Lab at the University of Pittsburgh, Division of Nephrology, is recruiting an outstanding, highly motivated, postdoctoral scientist to study the molecular pathophysiology of cystic kidney disease. Our lab is interested in identifying cilium-based mechanisms of cell cycle regulation and cellular signaling whose dysfunction underlies tubular hyperproliferation and cystogenesis in cystic kidney disease. We use a variety of molecular biology techniques, including cell culture systems, immunohistochemistry, RNAseq and BioID proteomics assays, transgenic and surgical animal models and patient biological samples, in our studies. Our overall goal is to understand how ciliary dysfunction underlies cystic kidney disease and to develop therapeutic agents against this condition.

Qualified candidates must have a PhD in molecular biology, or other relevant field. Previous experience in eukaryotic cell culture, microscopy and working with animal models is required. Primary responsibilities will be in experimental design, execution, data analysis and manuscript writing. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively. Verbal and written English fluency is required. Candidates should have strong organizational and communication skills.

Applicants should email a personal research statement describing their prior research background and current research interests, CV, and contact information for 3 referees to Dr. Rannar Airik at airikr@pitt.edu.
