 Computational Senior Scientist

This senior scientist level position will join the Integrative Biotechnology Group to contribute to an integrative discovery effort focused on illuminating cancer mechanisms and targets for therapeutic development.

The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, interactive, and creative individual who possesses substantial experience in using computation to answer biological questions. The candidate is expected to have strong expertise in the techniques related to integrated big data analyses, such as network-based analysis, statistical modeling and learning, while having an in-depth understanding of cancer cell biology. Experience in developing software packages is a plus.

The candidate will be expected to effectively collaborate with colleagues in Tumor Cell Biology, Target Therapeutic Discovery and Cancer Immune Discovery organizations to identify and prioritize pathways and activities for drug development.

The successful candidate will demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication, capable of presenting scientific results to collaborators, and at external scientific meetings.  S/he will be reporting to experienced scientist. There will be less than 5% travel.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop analytic pipelines for the integration of diverse large-scale datasets to prioritize most relevant mechanisms
  • Assist teams with the analyses of multiple omics datasets to gain biological insights into cancer cell signaling and mechanisms of drug action, and suggest appropriate assays for their testing.
  • Effectively manage projects and resources to maximize progress.
  • Provide engaging presentations that highlight research progress and opportunities identified from the computational studies.
  • Work to build a positive external reputation by both publishing research in high-tier journals and presenting at international meetings.
  • Help to build a culture that embraces scientific excellence, continuous learning, and increasing our team’s ability to deliver novel drug development opportunities through the rapid incorporation of emerging biotechnologies to ensure our team continues research on the leading-edge of oncology drug discovery.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology or related discipline plus 3+ years of academic experience at the postdoctoral level.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing projects.
  • A broad understanding of computational, cancer and immunotherapy biology.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, and a desire to work in collaboration. 

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

There will be less than 5% travel.
