Assistant Professor, Microbial Physiology

 

Description

The Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology at the University of Oklahoma (http://www.ou.edu/cas/mpbio) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the field of Microbial Physiology. We seek an exceptional individual who will establish a nationally recognized, externally-funded research program. We are especially interested in individuals whose work complements the research interests of our current faculty, who focus on understanding microbial influences on ecosystem function and health. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one undergraduate or graduate course per semester and participate in professional/service activities.

Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related discipline.
  • Postdoctoral research experience.

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong record of research publication in high impact, peer-reviewed research journals.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching.
  • Ability to contribute to core undergraduate and graduate curricula in microbiology, biotechnology, and/or bioinformatics.
  • Experience working with/teaching diverse groups.
  • Capability for cross-disciplinary interaction within the Department of Microbiology and Plant Biology as well as across the university.
