Description

The Center for Occupational and Environmental Health in the Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health in collaboration with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applicants for a tenure-track (Assistant Professor) or tenured (Associate or Full Professor) faculty position within the School of Medicine. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) and will be expected to establish an internationally recognized, externally funded laboratory-based research program, in addition to participating in graduate and postdoctoral teaching, training, and mentoring. Applicants' research should focus on the molecular/biochemical mechanisms whereby environmental factors (e.g. industrial chemicals, metals, pesticides, air pollutants, nanomaterials, environmental tobacco smoke, the microbiome, and certain physical agents, such as environmental radiation and ambient temperature) impact disease. Studies can utilize model compounds and organisms. Diseases encompassed within one or more of the six unified research themes of the School of Medicine (Cancer; Cardiovascular; Immune, Inflammation, Infection and Transplantation; Metabolism; Neuroscience; Regenerative Medicine, https://medschool.ucla.edu/unified-research-themes) are of particular interest.

UCLA is California's largest university, with an enrollment of nearly 44,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and was named the best public university in the United States for 2019 by US News & World Report. We welcome candidates whose experience in teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence. We encourage applications from women, minorities, and individuals with a history of mentoring under-represented groups in the sciences. Interested applicants may apply through this link https://recruit.apo.ucla.edu/JPF04924.

Initial review of applications will begin October 30, 2019 and the position will remain open until filled.
