Lecturer Position in Microbiology

The Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Wyoming invites applications for an Assistant Lecturer. This instructional faculty position has an expected 87.5% teaching load with the remainder being composed of professional development and service.  The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing an introductory microbiology course each semester and coordinating its associated laboratories.  Additional teaching responsibilities include delivery of a seminar course for entering undergraduates, academic advising, and management and training of teaching assistants for the laboratory sections.  Pending satisfactory performance reviews, this 9 month fixed term position will be extended with a multi-year rolling contract. The preferable start date is January 2020, with the full teaching load to begin in the fall.

The Department of Molecular Biology is a research-intensive academic unit with broad expertise including biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, microbiology, immunology, biotechnology, and genomics (http://www.uwyo.edu/molecbio/). Molecular Biology faculty participate in interdisciplinary and departmental graduate programs (http://www.uwyo.edu/molecbio/degree-programs/).

Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology or a field relevant to the position. Preferred qualifications include at least 1 year of teaching experience as lead instructor at the undergraduate level, implementation of modern teaching practices, and a demonstrated passion for science education.
