Within its Field of Excellence „Complexity of Life in Basic Research and Innovation“ (COLIBRI) the University is seeking is seeking to appoint a

Tenure Track Professor of “Complex Adaptive Systems"
(40 hours per week; selection procedure in accordance with Section 99 (5) of the Universities Act (UG); duration of employment is initially a fixed-term of six years with tenure track in accordance with the Salaried Employees Act (AngG); expected starting date October 1st 2020)

The aim of this professor position is to advance the research, teaching and collaborative work of the COLIBRI initiative (http://colibri.uni-graz.at/) and to give the university a prominent profile in the science of complexity in living and animated systems. In particular, the candidate will be expected to work in close collaboration with other researchers associated with the COLIBRI initiative, from all three of its disciplines (Biological Sciences, Social Sciences and Computational Complexity Sciences).

The successful candidate should have a research focus in investigations of the dynamics of specific and/or general complex interaction networks. Examples of such systems are: ecosystems and cultures; collaborative, synergistic and symbiotic systems, e.g. natural or engineered swarm intelligence systems; markets; production, logistics and transportation networks; and social networks. The professor will be expected to undertake activities specifically designed to enhance the visibility of the COLIBRI Field of Excellence beyond the university, targeting both the international expert community and the interested public. We also expect gender mainstreaming skills.
