Research Associate (Lab Manager)

The IUB Center for Genomics and Bioinformatics (CGB) https://cgb.indiana.edu/ seeks a Research Associate (Lab Manager) to serve in the genomics core lab.  Responsibilities include supervision of lab personnel, planning and implementation of lab research, promotion of genomics technologies to the local research community, and coordinating with external sequencing facilities.

The candidate will consult with prospective clients about planned research and should therefore be familiar with the latest next-generation sequencing methods. Communication with clients during all phases of research is important, including coordination with the CGB bioinformatics core to ensure projects are successful. The position requires good planning skills, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to carry out successful molecular biology experiments.

Position Requirements: Must have a Masters degree or higher in the biological sciences.  Must have demonstrated experience in molecular biology research; experience with next-generation sequencing is highly desirable. Experience with laboratory information management systems and supervision of personnel is preferred.

Must have a demonstrated ability to communicate tactfully, professionally, and effectively with a diverse group of faculty, scientists, administrative staff, and other members of the research community.

Applications should be submitted by 10/1/2019 to ensure full consideration, but will continue to be considered until the position is filled. Interested candidates should review the job description and submit a letter of interest, a C.V, and contact information for three references online at https://indiana.peopleadmin.com/postings/8403.

Questions about the position should be directed to: Matt Hahn, Search Committee Chair (mwh@indiana.edu).
