Assistant Professor
The Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at Boston University invites applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the systems neuroscience of complex behavior in animal models (rodents), to begin July 2020, pending budgetary approval. The search is defined broadly to attract the very top candidates. Examples of specific areas of research interest include (but are not restricted to) topics such as drug abuse, incentive motivation, and reward processing. We would like to hire researchers using cutting-edge methodologies that have been a focus of the federal BRAIN initiative (e.g., calcium imaging, optogenetics, many neuron recording). Researchers will join an interdisciplinary team of systems neuroscientists studying the neural basis of complex behavior in our departmental Brain, Behavior, and Cognition Program and the Center for Systems Neuroscience. The candidate must be committed to establishing a vigorous, externally supported program of research, a strong publication record, and a strong teaching record. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses per year (undergraduate and/or graduate courses) and engage in research training at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Applications will only be accepted at https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/14354. Applicants should upload a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching experience and interests, a statement of research interests, copies of three representative scholarly papers, and arrange to have three letters of reference submitted through the same website. For full consideration, review of applications will begin October 15, 2019. Inquiries may be directed to Mary Perry, Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences, Boston University, 64 Cummington Mall, Boston, MA 02215 (mcp@bu.edu). We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. We are a VEVRAA Federal Contractor.
