Assistant or Associate Professor, Institute for Systems Genetics
The Institute for Systems Genetics at NYU Langone Health invites applications for tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The Institute, headed by Jef Boeke, PhD, combines the latest technologies in systems, computational and synthetic biology to tackle fundamental and translational questions in genetics, epigenetics, and quantitative cell biology. The Institute occupies new space, designed to foster highly collaborative and innovative research, and operates side-by-side with initiatives in computational medicine, human genetics, metabolism, microbiology, cancer biology, neurobiology, and immunology to complement the vibrant overall biomedical research environment at NYU Langone Health, as well as the growing ‘omics community in New York City. In addition to outstanding existing core facilities at NYU School of Medicine, the Institute for Systems Genetics offers state-of-the-art genomics, imaging, cytometry, computational infrastructure and a robotics facility, the GenomeFoundry@ISG, specialized in design, synthesis and assembly of very large DNA molecules. Collaborations with colleagues across the medical center and with entities such as the Courant Institute and the New York Genome Center are encouraged. We seek colleagues whose innovations in ‘omics technology advance their biologically focused research programs to the next level. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Functional ‘omics biology
- Human genetics and genomics
- Computational cell & molecular biology
- Systems and synthetic biology
- Genome engineering
Candidates from nontraditional backgrounds such as computer science, engineering, physics, chemistry and mathematics with a strong interest in technology development are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will hold a primary appointment in one of the many relevant NYU School of Medicine Departments and will have opportunities to participate in one or more graduate programs.
