Sr. Research Associate/Research Scientist Position in Oncology/Tumor Biology Microenvironment
The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute invites applications and nominations for a full-time academic position in the rank of a Sr. Research Associate/Research Scientist to direct and manage a Tumor Organ Donation Program for Cancer Research.
This is an excellent opportunity for an interested academician to join a progressive division and department. Candidates will join the current team of Basic Scientist at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute and Wayne State University School of Medicine.
This position will direct and manage a Tumor Organ Donation Program for pancreatic cancer and selected other malignancies; coordinate the collection, processing, analysis, and distribution of cancer tissues from rapid autopsies; independently develop and execute research goals; develop new methods and optimize current methods to best utilize rapid autopsy tissue samples; analyze and present research results for publications, assist in fundraising efforts to support the collection of cancer specimen.
Candidates should have an established record of achievement and the ability to create an environment of collegiality and collaboration with the Institute’s and University’s existing basic and clinical scientists, centers, and programs.
Qualifications include:
- Doctoral degree required, M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent
- Post-graduate training in the area of cancer research
- Evidence of scholarly productivity (i.e., publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and contributions to acquire external grant support)
- Excellent communication and organization skills
