Job Details

The Research Scientist will use their skills and knowledge in Assay Development and Cell Biology to plan, organize and conduct assays on biopharmaceuticals and vaccines. The incumbent will participate in testing and analysis on therapeutic/preventative molecules in the Elanco Research Laboratories by designing novel cell-based bioassays. This position will be responsible for designing and validating a panel of assays to evaluate biopharmaceutical activity, potency, and/or binding kinetics. This position will also design assays to interrogate the fundamental properties of veterinary antibodies e.g., effector functions, as well as anti-drug antibody assays. This position is laboratory-based and will require routine interaction with senior scientists across multiple discovery and core research laboratories at Elanco. The incumbent scientist will be expected to support multiple projects at any given time. The Research Scientist will be responsible for identifying and applying new technologies and innovations to update the capabilities of the research laboratory. A strong foundation in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and/or cellular biology will be required to proactively search for solutions in this discovery driven team.

Functions, Duties, Task:
  • Conceptualize, design, construct, and validate cell-based bioassays to screen activity and potency of biotherapeutic and vaccine molecules.
  • Conceptualize, design, construct, and validate cell-based bioassays to analyze and monitor effector functions of native and engineered veterinary antibodies.
  • Conceptualize, design, construct, and validate in vitro assays (e.g., BLI, ECL) to evaluate binding kinetics and/or potency of biopharmaceuticals or vaccine antigens for their ligand.
  • Conceptualize, design, construct, and validate cell-based and in vitro anti-drug antibody assays.
  • Keep abreast of scientific literature in the field and implement novel modalities and protocols.
  • Provide expertise in evaluation of new platform technologies.
  • Proactively search for novel technologies or product opportunities and establish collaborations and research programs to deliver innovative technical solutions.
