Tenure-Track Faculty Position

(Assistant/Associate/Full Professor)

Department of Genetics,

Yale University School of Medicine

The Department of Genetics at Yale University School of Medicine is looking to appoint an outstanding investigator at the junior or senior tenure-track level in the field of developmental biology, quantitative imaging of cellular systems, and/or quantitative gene expression dynamics. Applications from investigators working at the interface of these areas will be strongly considered. The rank of the appointment will be commensurate with experience and the position comes with a substantial start-up package.

The mission of the Department of Genetics is to make foundational contributions toward understanding the relationship between genetic variation and phenotype in development, homeostasis and disease. Our faculty comprises an exceptional group of 24 Principal Investigators in the basic sciences with research interests ranging from human genomics, developmental biology, gene expression dynamics, chromatin and epigenetics, and quantitative and systems biology using different model systems including flies, worms, fish and mouse, and humans. The Department is closely associated with science initiatives at Yale including Center for Genomic Health, the Center for Mendelian Genomics, the Center for Genome Analysis, The Cancer Center, The Center for Biomedical Data Science, and The Stem Cell Center.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. Applications should contain a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a description of previous research (1 page), a concise statement of research plans (up to 2 pages), reprints of 2 publications, and 3 confidential letters of recommendation. Applicants must apply through the Interfolio website at: http://apply.interfolio.com/66217 by November 1st, 2019, though late applications may be considered under special circumstances. Specific inquiries about the position may be sent to the attention of Dr. Antonio Giraldez, Chair of the Department of Genetics, at genetics.admin@yale.edu.

Interviews will take place as part of a multidisciplinary symposium including candidates for different searches. Please reserve the dates of January 14-15, 2020 January 21-22, 2020 and February 11-12, 2020 (snow date) as potential dates for the symposium in case you are selected for an interview.

About Us:

Members of the Department of Genetics conduct basic, clinical and translational research using genetics and genomics of model organisms (yeast, fruit fly, worm, zebrafish, mouse) and humans to understand fundamental mechanisms of biology and disease. Areas of active investigation include genetic and epigenetic regulation of development and disease, molecular genetics, stem cells and other dynamic cellular systems, regulation of gene expression, computational biology and human genomics. Please see https://medicine.yale.edu/genetics for more information.

The Department of Genetics also provides clinical care in Medical Genetics in the Yale New Haven Health System. Clinical genetics services include inpatient consultation and care, general, subspecialty, and prenatal genetics clinics, and clinical laboratories for cytogenetics, DNA diagnostics, and biochemical diagnostics. The Department sponsors a Medical Genetics Residency program leading to certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics. Admission to the Genetics Residency is directly through the Department.

The Department of Genetics believes that outstanding science is driven by diversity. We strive to create an inclusive community of faculty, staff, and students whose voices and contributions are valued and respected, and who better represent the communities we serve. We are dedicated to providing an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity in age, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, physical ability and ethnicity. Diversity is our commitment and our passion; we invite you to be part of it. Please refer to the official Yale University statement on diversity and inclusion accessible here: https://your.yale.edu/community/diversity-inclusion
