A renowned academic institution is seeking a full-time perioperative neuroimmunology director to spearhead research on the multifaceted aspects of perioperative neuroimmunology. We are seeking an individual who is a physician-scientist (MD/Ph.D.), and we will also consider Ph.D. and/or MD candidates who have excellent track records of successful research funding or clear paths toward additional research success. 

Research will focus on basic and/or translational aspects of brain-focused immunity after trauma or injury, whether directed to the central nervous system (CNS) or any other organs. 

Current faculty in the department study diverse aspects of neuroimmunology in disorders such as stroke, pain, neurodegeneration, gut-brain axis, delirium, and surgery-induced cognitive disorders.

Additional information regarding this opportunity:

  • The successful candidate will be expected to develop a unique program in perioperative neuroimmunology by fostering cross-departmental collaborations to develop and translate innovative therapies focused on CNS protection and neurological outcomes.
  • Individuals with strong track records of and continued interest in the pursuit of new insight into immune system function and its impact in preoperative care are highly encouraged to apply.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in high-level publications and evidence of peer-reviewed research funding.
  • The qualified candidate will exude strong social and leadership skills to bring together a scientifically diverse group of investigators.
