The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Orthopaedics Department in collaboration with the Cell Biology and Physiology Department seeks outstanding candidates for an open-rank faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD and have an exceptional record of research accomplishments as demonstrated by robust extramural funding, publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and a well-defined research vision. Candidates at the Associate or Full Professor level will further be expected to demonstrate national leadership and international recognition within their discipline. We seek individuals with interests in all areas of scoliosis and spinal deformity and other important musculoskeletal conditions. The use of model organisms that translate toward clinically-relevant findings is encouraged. The faculty member will be expected to provide a collaborative interface between the research activities of the two Departments. Ample opportunities to teach and train graduate and medical students are provided and thus, excellent mentoring and teaching skills in both didactic and interactive styles are highly desirable.
The Orthopaedics Department provides a high level of expertise in musculoskeletal care and is developing its research program in conjunction with the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology which is a national leading research and education department and will provide an excellent environment for research activities and career development. The position will also work with the Thurston Arthritis Research Center which is an international leader in musculoskeletal research. The School of Medicine is located on the campus of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which includes the Schools of Pharmacy, Dentistry and Public Health, as well as the College of Arts and Sciences. The Schools and College have many outstanding interdisciplinary research collaborations between clinical and basic sciences.
