Tenure-track or tenured faculty position

The University of California Irvine (UCI) Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC) (www.stemcell.uci.edu) invites applications from outstanding candidates for tenure-track or tenured faculty position. Academic appointment will be made at the Assistant or Associate Professor level as a full-time Academic Senate appointment in an appropriate department of the UCI School of Medicine (SOM) (http://www.som.uci.edu). Position is open to PhD, MD, or MD/PhD scientists. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a robust extramurally funded independent research program in any area of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine. Candidates’ area of research interest should complement existing strengths at the SCRC and across the SOM, College of Health Sciences (COHS) and UCI campus. Existing areas of strength include neuroscience and cancer research. Candidates will also be expected to contribute to UCI SCRC, departmental, and institutional teaching and service missions. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience, and generous start-up packages will be provided.

The SCRC, an institute of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), represents a cross-campus research and education program involving over 50 faculty in 5 different schools. The SCRC is a well-equipped, state-of-the-art research facility that also includes a vivarium designed for stem cell research, and a CIRM-funded Alpha Stem Cell Clinic designed to support and accelerate the development of stem cell-based clinical trials. Research programs in the SCRC leverage outstanding existing resources and strengths of the UCI COHS and SCRC partners across the UCI campus including the Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (www.icts.uci.edu), Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (www.mind.uci.edu), Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (www.cancer.uci.edu), Cancer Research Institute (http://cri.bio.uci.edu), and Institute for Immunology (www.immunology.uci.edu).
