Leader of a Max Planck Research Group and W2 Full Professor (W3 tenure track) in Magnetic Resonance of Complex Materials and Catalysts

RWTH Aachen University and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion (MPI CEC, Mülheim an der Ruhr) are seeking applications for the advertised position.

The professorship is established jointly as a Max Planck Research Group of the MPI CEC located at the Institute for Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry (ITMC) of the Department of Chemistry at RWTH Aachen. After the five-year limited employment and funding period by the Max Planck Society, upon positive evaluation the position will be continued as Full Professor (W3) at RWTH Aachen.

An internationally recognized scientific profile with a methodological focus on magnetic resonance techniques complementing the existing expertise at ITMC is essential. An active contribution to research programs at the interfaces of natural sciences, engineering sciences, and life sciences, and therefore central elements of RWTH Aachen’s excellence strategy, such as the Fuel Science Center cluster, is expected. The research activities are expected to strengthen the scientific collaboration with the MPI CEC in the area of chemical energy conversion.

Experience with acquisition of third party funding, procject coordination and with managing interdisciplinary projects is required.

A doctoral degree is required; additionally, Habilitation (post-doctoral lecturing qualification), an exemplary record of research achievement as an assistant / an associate / a junior professor or university researcher and/or an outstanding career outside academia are highly desirable. Ability in and commitment to teaching are essential. The application should include supporting documents regarding success in teaching. German is not necessary to begin but will be expected as a teaching language within the first 5 years.
